Lepanthes valerioi

March 27, 2011

Lepanthes valerioi Luer 1996.
I found this species on a big tree at about 2600 meters, in the mountains east of Buenos Aires – Costa Rica. Me and Daniel found a big tree that had fallen down in a storm. The tree trunk was covered with lepanthes species at an hight of 20 meters. Many of the plants had starten to rot especially the Bromeliads and some Lepanthes flowers.

It´s the second time this species is found.

The flower is about 4 mm in size.

It looks a bit like one we collected south of Loja in Ecuador in 1985:
    Lepanthes sp.
